Hello everyone and welcome!
My first Rogue!
So, your thinking about playing a Rogue? Good choice indeed. I will be going over some of the reasons in my eyes that your choice will be stunning. Alright, lets get right into it and skip the puns.
We will start with a few questions:
I'm new to the game - Why should I roll a Rogue?
I am thinking about Rerolling should I choose a Rogue?
I am going to answer these questions in the best way I possibly can. The best way I can start off a series like this is well, giving you an idea of why I started playing the class.
I started playing Rogue in the middle of Burning Crusade. My very first character was an Alliance, Paladin. I had been leveling through Outlands with some friends that I met in game and I was getting into PvP. I got ganked a few times but it never really bothered me. I didn't even know how to defend myself at this point. ( I never hit 60 in vanilla - It took me forever and a day to level! )
After hitting 70 and being very new to the game. I went with my guild and new in game friends and ran battlegrounds every day to get honor gear. Once we could start doing arena for points, we would lose ten games per week just to get our gear. This would give you about a piece per month!
All this was happening during the time when you still had to physically go to dungeons that you wanted to run. If you wanted to do a Battleground, you had to go to the War Room and manually queue. If my friends and I wanted to queue as a group and get into the same battle together we would count down on vent...3...2....1...queue.
Ah, those days.
So back to the story,
I would queue Battlegrounds with them for hours, if it was a certain weekend we would all queue up for that particular one and play late into the morning...waiting for the point reset of course.
Skip forward about a month, give or take.
I was doing my thing, still being very new to the game as a whole. The guild members I usually played with were not online so I decided to just queue by myself into an AV, as it was the weekend. What could really be that bad?
I remember this particular AV still as if it was yesterday...
We had killed Galv and had taken Iceblood Tower, we had a large force of attackers pushed up near Tower Point. The road next to Iceblood Graveyard was an epic battle-scene from a well known Russell Crowe film. I was in awe! THIS IS AWESOME, I exclaimed as I would just get feared into their defense and die out of range of our healers.
The Horde were in the same position as we were, two towers capped and an attacking force near Stone Hearth Graveyard and Icewing. They captured those two points quickly. We couldn't take Tower Point.
The infamous Turtle had begun!
Soon everyone wanted to go on the defensive as the Horde were advancing to our base at lighting speed. Lots of our forces had used their trinkets to teleport back to the base. I however didn't have a clue that such an item even existed, so I decided to mount up and try to join them.
I found myself all alone on the hill near Icewing Bunker, trotting down over the crest on my epic warhorse. I stopped to gather myself and take in the surroundings. As I came to a stop I heard the Wooosshhh....Sap........Sap again.....Cheapshot, I no doubt was in for a fight.
Out of the Cheapshot I got put into a full Kidney, I remembered from my other battles to try and sit the Kidney because as a Paladin we can heal so I have an advantage. So there I sat in a full five point kidney shot. While I was stunned, I got a glimpse of my foe. A male Blood Elf Rogue, Poisons dripping from his blades. Clad in dark leather armor, with flowing blond hair whipping in the frosty wind.
The Kidney ended and at this point I was almost dead. I bubbled and healed myself back to full, my attacker however Vanished....Before I knew it I was in another stun lock. I used my trinket on the following Kidney, the Rogue had quickly kicked snow into my eyes...Blinded..ummm, not looking good. Sitting at half health in a blind with a Rogue wanting you dead with no way out is not every fun. The rogue stood there while I was in that blind and laughed at me before restealthing. I was spamming lay on hands the entire time....right when blind faded I was back to full health and basically out of cooldowns to save my self.
Sapped....alright here we go, my one chance to slow the agony.....out of the next stun I hammered the Rogue, popped my wings and started to....Trinket, Gouge...alright I told myself, I will repentance then try to get away ...just repentance and run........repentance and RUN! So the repentance went off...and I was running away, heart beating out of my chest....just a little bit further....ok, stop and heal..... flash of light, flash...of....light....
Shadow Step, Shiv, Hemorrhage, a pause.... FLASH OF LIGHT - ALMOST OFFFF.......Kicked!
I looked down and I was locked out of my healing tree. Oh, how could this get any worse.
I ran....for my life. With every few more steps forward my heath pool drained. I turned around to face my opponent down, screen flashing red.
I sat back staring at my corpse, and said out loud. Wow, I want to do that to people. I released spirit and /afked that AV. Deserter debuff in hand, I logged out.
Next thing I knew, I had a brand new Human female Rogue. Elena.
Next time I will be going into more depth about why you should be playing a Rogue!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
