Should I play a Rogue? Top 3 Reasons, you should!

Hello everyone, and welcome back to my second part of my rogue series. Why you should play or reroll a Rogue.

Top 3 reasons that you should play a Rogue:

#1 - Rogues are great in both PvP and PvE -

Rogue is a different animal than most classes, this is because we are one of the only pure dps classes left in the game, the others being Mages, Hunters, and Warlocks. As far as melee go we are the only pure melee dps in the game. If your planning on doing PvE at end game and dealing damage or simply want to play a melee but are not interested in tanking or healing, rogue will be your go to class. Secondly, rogue in PvE has some awesome utility that is raid viable. We bring good damage, buffs and most importantly debuffs to a raid environment. Last but not least, all three of our specs are different but certainly viable. Yes, your playing a rogue but, if you choose certain talents this can increase your knowledge of the class as a whole and reduce the staleness that could occur with other classes being put into a tanking or healing only role. You can avoid that entirely if you play rogue as all we can do is damage.

As far as PvP is concerned, rogue is one of the most well represented classes through out the history of the game overall. We bring great utility, peeling and cc to almost all facets of any PvP encounter. Most importantly, the rogue class has great control. This fact alone is why rogue is so well represented in high end PvP and certain comps are based around the the rogues control. Rogue meshes with other classes very well so you will be an important facet of the team. This will give you more incentive to play as best you can all the time because your can't hide behind the curtain. (RMP, RLS and Thug Cleave are great examples of how rogues can be the star of the comp.) In Rated Battlegrounds, Rogues are a very wise choice to keep constant pressure on the opposing team via Sap capping, Ninjaing nodes and preventing caps from happening with a multitude of core class abilities.

#2 - We have Stealth -

Sure, one could argue...why not play a druid, they have stealth also right? Yes, they do have stealth. They also have four specs now as of mists, each requiring a separate set of gear. Rogues have three specs limited only by the weapons they choose to wield. On top of that, Rogues have more utility over all compared to the druid if your planning on playing the one melee dps spec they have.

So lets just talk about stealth for a moment. Stealth is one of the greatest single class mechanics in the game. If you want to go afk, you can without worry. Just go stealth. Say you don't want to fight certain mobs or you want to run in and get your quest item and run out. You can do that as a rogue while a druid can't. If your losing a fight and need to reassess the situation you can plain and simply vanish.

Rogues, revolve around the art of stealth and being sneaky. We have an Incapacitate that we can use in stealth which acts as a CC, we have multiple different openers that one can use depending on how they want to control the fight. We also have distract, which has a ton of fun and useful points. Distracting folks of the AV bridge comes to mind...or forcing a person to stay in one area for just long enough to secure the Sap and gain control of the fight. Lastly as far as stealth goes, we have pick pocket. What an under rated ability this is! We can get extra gold and items from mobs. Free of charge, as well as having a chance to gain a lock box which can contain anything from vendor items, to epic weapons.

#3 - Rogues are scary -

Rogues in general are very intimidating. This is based on the fact that we have stealth and major control over a fight we choose. Yes. I did say choose.

Most of the time, our fellow classmates are seen as cheap, untrustworthy snakes.(me included) We, as a class have gained major hostility over the years due to the fact that we don't fight toe to toe, or are not honorable fighters. Vanishing when we would have most certainly lost, killing in a stun, or simply annoying someone with sap and distract are a few examples of this.  Its just part of our nature.

Plain and simply put, rogues have the option of choosing their fights. Once we choose that we are going to fight we have a plethora of ways to counter other players while we are engaged. To top it all off, we have the choice to end that fight as well. (under certain circumstances, of course!)

Lastly, and to finish off why you should be playing a rogue. Rogue gear is visually epic! All the rogue gear looks great...so you just plain look awesome while making people rage when they can't kill you.

I hope the above points will open up some thoughts as to why rogues are a very fun class. In my personal opinion the best class ever. So, go out there with daggers in hand, and gank some lowbies in stv....yes, i just advocated griefing.....

Thanks for stopping by!
