Rogue: Subtlety in Mists! Initial thoughts and Impressions.

Hello Everyone!

Maybe a little late...but hey, I have been messing around as combat in pve and haven't really gotten my feet soaked in Alliance blood on the shores of Pandaria until recently!

I have been playing Subtlety and I am really having a blast. I am going to go over some uses for the spec I am currently playing with. You can change it however you feel suits your play style. As always there are no rules.

Some of the subtle things I am enjoying about sub right now are the control aspects via the talents. As rogues stand at the moment, we need all the control we can get. I am worried less about doing huge damage now than ever before. Currently I am focused on controlling my targets and trying to be as annoying as possible. I have found this to be pretty successful!

So Lets jump right in to the talents -

Subterfuge: This talent is amazing. For starters....you can get openers if your damaged/pulled out while in stealth. You can cheap shot one person and then cheap shot another...the list goes on and on! Topping this list of possibilities for this one talent - The fact that you have three openers available to you before coming out of stealth - for example: Premed > SnD > Cheapshot > Garrote > Ambush > then you come out of stealth and you have enough combo points for either a KS or Evis.

Another thing I have to mention in this particular spec is the last talent Anticipation - Which plays hand in hand not only with shadow dance, but also with Subterfuge, as you will have a ton of combo points that would go to waste otherwise. So you can do things like evis > evis for burst or Evis > Redirect > KS etc etc.

Paralytic Poison - If you have decent timing with this talent you can make some really sick plays. Namely, waiting until 5 stacks for the stun and KS out of it for a huge stun lock. The Shiv proc is very useful, as a peel for your teammates and the best part about it is using it to get restealth opportunities. The stun is a random stun so it doesn't share DR with KS or Cheapshot.

A few other things to note about just messing around in random bgs and a few arenas here and there currently. Elusiveness is a good choice, use it when you think your going to get swapped to or to avoid some random damage. To be honest though its not gonna help you if your near a one shot macroing warrior though...Better just to vanish and come back at a different time. LOL.

The choice between Prep and Shadow step comes down to really your play style and how you're feeling. If you feel squishy take prep. If you think you can survive and need mobility take Step. It also depends on the comp your playing and lots of other factors.

Some other things I would like to quickly throw out in regards to playing rogue currently and how I am feeling. What I am noticing, and trying to work on. I am really pushing myself to be way more situationally aware. Looking at everything. Planning ahead - If your opener isn't spot on you can't just get another one...you need to be spot on and make sure your really ready to take on whom ever your taking on. What cds do they have up. Expect the unexpected all the time. Getting Globaled is no fun! As things stand right now you need as much control and surprise as you can get. Taking every advantage you can will help you out in the long run.

That about covers everything I had on my mind currently! Stay tuned for more if this is up your alley.

As always,

Thanks for stopping by!
