Rogues are Balanced. ShS/Prep Dilemma!
I was doing an EoT's listening to an Interview with Tom Chilton - Lead game designer - On Arena Junkies w/ Diziet.
Once the Interview finished I was thinking/inspired to make a post about ShS/Prep and the choice between the two, how it would effect balance etc etc.
I will be straight up. I love Shadow Step - It is hands down, my favorite Rogue ability.
Rogue's simply can't have shadow step and prep currently - this doesn't mean down the road...we might see it in the future. Right now though it would simply be too over the top. Why?
Rogue's have alot of things they can do to stay on a target currently and adding shadow step to that is unnecessary and puts Rogues into the realm of warriors/dks/rets etc etc Every other class.
As much as I would vote for it, shadow step and prep in the same spec is under the bus for the time being. - I want the game to be balanced for all classes. When your looking at class balance you have to take into consideration all the classes and how they effect one another. You can't look at it just as a Rogue or just as a Rogue vs X. You need to put each class into the grid and match it with each class.
At the end of the day I will go along with other opinions on the matter of class balance and just throw this out there: Rogues atm are balanced...other classes need to be toned down to our level.
Every other melee class has at least two ways to get on or back onto their target from a distance - Some even have more. Melee currently have too much up time and casters have too many instants. There is way too much instant CC and unavoidable junk going around.
So, now that "some" of the problems have been addressed - Lets talk about solutions:
I will go out on a limb and say - Tone it down - Tone down, uptime, instant casts, CC, Mobility and Burst. Instead of matching take a step back on these things. Every class shouldn't have an instant unavoidable non dr'able cc that they can use in a chain with other instant unavoidable non dr'able cc. That would just make things out of control stupid.
Everyone wants to go back to BC times - Yeah I loved BC - The fact was and still is...BC wasn't balanced. It was seemingly slower paced, yet not balanced at all... We had less moves to worry about back then less gobals to use. We had less going on...that is why if felt slower.
I really like the way things are headed. Blizzard has said that they are trying to make changes to PvP and balance things out. Hopefully, they don't pull a typical Blizzard and make some changes for the better within the next year.
Thanks for stopping by.
