20 Days of Gold Making!

Hello everyone!

I have caught the bug as well...although unlike other wow gold bloggers...I am not really a wow gold blogger so I thought it would be interesting to see my answers to these questions. If you don't know what the 20 days of gold making is you can check out Nev's post here!

Day 1 - When did you start making gold, what triggered it.

Alright, I previously talked about this in my last post but I will go in depth and use this as a way to give you guys a general overview of my playstyle as a whole not only my gold making routines... If you're ready for a novel read on.

I have to start at the beginning, yes....The VERY beginning so it all makes sense.

I was about to turn 17 when I started playing World of Warcraft. I wasn't new to video games at all, having played Battlefield 2142 Semi Competitively for about a year prior to WoW. I had received my first gaming PC for an early Christmas present the year before and really enjoyed FPS playing 4 -6 hours on school days and 15+ on weekends...yeah I was that guy. I was honestly never going to play wow. I had some friends in highschool that really wanted me to play because they knew I loved the Battlefield Series and gaming in general. They would hound me all the time, to play this game...I didn't really care much about it though. I had to take some summer classes to catch up on some failing grades from all my late nights playing 2142. One of my friends that played WoW was in this summer class as well. Coincidence, I think not. I would go to the class each time and he would be on this website Thottbot....Looking at....."epic gear" from "Raids" - I would ask him, "What is an Epic, and....what is this Raid thing?"

LOL

So anyway, eventually I got introduced during a lunch break session of him farming SM Cath on his 60 Ret Pally...I couldn't stop watching. It was awesome..I told him I needed to play it that night. So I made an account and went straight home to start playing.

A few weeks later I was a proud level 35 human ret paladin of the alliance....or something like that.

This is where my gold story begins:
( this is during vanilla obv)
At level 40 back in the day....you got your first mount. - I had to borrow gold from my friends to get my first mount...

I was a paladin so I wanted the Epic Charger at level 60 most players said it cost them around 300g or more to get it...I wanted it so I grinded everything I could to rake up the cash starting at level 42ish..still had to borrow money from my friends and get their help with the quests...Fail.

I hit 60 right before bc came out but at least I had my epic paladin charger..

So I leveled through BC...well I didn't...I quit leveling my paladin and bought power leveling from 64 -70...got a three day ban in the process and had to call Blizzard and tell them I got hacked. Anyways, thats one of the storys I have from bc...(Lots more where that came from.)

I played that paladin for a few more months before leveling my first rogue to 70. Once at 70 season 3 had just arrived and I was gearing out my Rogue in Merciless Glad gear. I never had enough gold to gem or enchant my pieces much less level professions or even dream about epic flying...for awhile there I didn't even have regular flying...

I really wanted to start making more money so I could buy epic flying but I didn't know anything about the AH so I resorted to Daily Quests on the isle for the rest of the expansion with no luck saving any gold.

Wrath of the Lich king was released and I made a brand new Rogue, this time we had rerolled horde...After hitting level 80 I had to farm mobs and scrounge to save enough for my epic flying...much less cold weather or whatever it was called to fly in northrend...another 2k...lol

I was tried of being broke all the time. Just plain sick and tired...I tried to grind mobs like everyone else, I did the daily quests, I tried to save all my gold I could but I just couldn't find a way to get ahead...So I went online. I soon found Stokpile and after reading over all of his stuff I had myself a few k's to spare...nothing much more though..but when you're used to having 100g or 250g 2k or 3k in your bags is quite a lot!

Toward the end of Wrath my rogue was doing pretty well, epic flying, Secondary Professions Maxxed and Eng/mining 450 to boot. (Totally Copied Akrios on that one...;-) )

I was doing alright in the money department but no where near where I wanted to be. During Cata, I just got so burned on the game with friends coming and going and the game really just taking a loss...Imo cata was boring.. I didn't focus too much on making gold and the little bit of it I did do was just in the JC Shuffle - Made a total of 25k which was a very good jump from my usual 5kish!

So, now we are back...to Mists of Pandaria!

Present day and years later. I am just now getting into "Gold making" - I never really thought about "Making Gold"...I never had enough of it around to think much more than am I able to afford X...So to get back on topic here:

When did you start making gold, what triggered it?

I started "Making gold" in Cataclysm. This was a time when I had more than enough to buy just about all my " Bare Necessities" - Sure, I could have never afforded a Vial of the Sands but I didn't care about that. As long as my toon had gems and enchants and repair bills covered and some left over I was happy.

In Mists I plan on changing that..Currently I am sitting on 56k, which is really not much compared to even the average player. I am not worried about the number, I care about that journey and the things I can learn from making more gold.

I want to push for 100k right now..I would say Oh, I will get 1 million this xpac...and sure that would be cool but I have alot to do before that even comes close to reality at this moment.

The reason I started making gold, because I got sick of never having any. If there was a really good reason other than necessity...I would say, just to see how much I can get. Everyone's gotta start somewhere and honestly I'm feeling good about my 50k start!

Thanks for stopping by, as always!
